Choices to be made

you know...there are certain situation that I wonder what others would do. Sorta tough questions that make you wonder...some people would have no doubt in their mind as to what their reaction would be but then some would also be indecisive. Here are some of the things that go through my head...i'll let you decide.

You're a server at a restaurant and a woman that possibly is pregnant orders an alcoholic drink. You're not required by law to refuse service and there is the possibility that she may not actually be pregnent. What do you do?

You're walking down the street, you hear a commotion in a store that you just so happen to be in front of. A man runs out carrying a large carton of cirgarettes. He's heading right towards you and there's no one else around besides the clerk. The cigarettes are obviously stolen...do you try to stop him?

You see a child walking with what appears to be their parent and you had seen them enter the store a little while before. Suddenly the child starts yelling and stating that this isn't their parent. There's a chance that the child could be telling the truth, as well as a chance that the child is merely misbehaving. What would YOU do?

You're standing in a park with few people around and you see a man walking with his wife/girlfriend. They're argueing and the man hits her. You could walk away and pretend you saw nothing...but would you?

In all of these situations i like to think that i'd do what i view as "right" even if it could offend someone greatly or possibly get me in trouble if i got involved. but then i've never been there, and never had to make the choice.

A gift from the heart

Valentines day is here again, the time of year when gifts are exchanged friends and significant others. And of course i did the usual exchange with my girl (with extra thought and snooping involved). But the real gift i'm thinking about here is one that is truly from the heart...almost literally. Today i went in to donate blood for the first time, I do hae to admit that i didn't finish the process (due to what i think was just nervousness) the nurse there i guess noticed i was going a little off color...whatever that means. Personally i just felt a little warm, but when i told the nurse this, all of a sudden there were 4 people swarming around me in a flurry of movement which made me think for just a second "oh man...i'm going to die or something". Honestly i felt bad for bailing out, but i have full intention to try again when they come out here again for more blood. But i urge everyone out there to try, it really doesn't hurt at all and it really is something amazing and great that you're doing if you do. And sure i may not have gotten through it this time but next time i know i will. And...because i was reading stuff about all of this i made the decision that i'm going to register to be a bone marrow donor...who knows, i may get the chance to save someone's life some day. Just to leave off here i suggest that you check out the blood service website for more information HERE. As well here's some facts to read over too.

Every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. That someone could be a loved one, a friend, a co-worker—or even you.

In Canada, roughly 137,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year. We all know that cancer patients often need blood or blood products to survive their treatments.

The number of transplants has increased steadily from 16 per one million Canadians in 1981 to 59 per one million Canadians in 2000. This includes kidney, liver, pancreas, heart, lung and bowel transplants – all of which are lengthy procedures requiring significant amounts of blood.

The number of total hip replacements done in Canada during the same period increased by just under 20 per cent.

Blood- It's in you to give.

Noise control

Well i certainly had an interesting experience the other night. I went to what some might call a "show", it was a bunch of local bands playing hardcore and metal music...oh the joys of people yelling incoherantly into the mic at the same time as the band is bashing and smashing their instruments randomly to try to get some type of pattern to pass of as music. I can't say i hated it, i mean when some of the bands actually sang something they weren't that bad honestly. And the "dancing" was rather amusing too, I mean if I hadn't known ahead of time that it was dancing then i might have mistaken it for people that had just randomly just started flailing around trying to hit something that was always out of their reach...but still, it was a good night.

Hair Nazi

Yes so i finally gave in to the inevitable and got a hair cut the other day...not so bad you would think right? Everyone gets a haircut at one time or another, but you see the guy that used to cut my hair retired about 4 years ago. So for the past 4 years i've been in a limbo of going to different places and getting my hair cut (this had a major role in why i let my hair grow long...that way i didn't have toget it cut as often) and for the past 4 years i've yet to have a good haircut (cept at the place that my mom goes but i found it creepy that the person cutting my hair knew so much about me) but this last one really really just did me in for bad hair cuts, i mean sure...with long hair if i got a bad one i'd just have to wait a couple weeks and you couldn't tell the difference. This time though there was a big difference, before my hair was still relatively long after it was cut but now it isn't. i can't quite say it's short because it isn't entirely. I guess what it really looks like is what i like to call a reverse mullet, it's short in the back (very short...well atleast it's short for me) and long on the sides and front. AND!! to top it off one side of my hair is about an inch shorter then the other. I really really should have refused to pay for this cut and made them fix it but i just wanted to leave. Why didn't i say something while it was being cut you ask...perhaps i would've if i had been able to see what she was doing while she was cutting it, but she started on the back of my head where i don't really see that often (it being the back of my head and all). So now i get to wait a couple weeks for it to grow before i can get it fixed, damn i'm glad i have touques. In the mean time i have come up with several guidelines for he person that i will choose to cut my hair...

1. The person MUST be around 30 years old or older. This is to ensure that they have the experience nesscessary to not screw up my hair.

2. They HAVE to be able to speak english properly and be able to understand that half an inch doesn't mean go crazy with the scissors. (the person that stabbed me in the neck with the scissors still haunts me to this day)

3. They have to be talkative, sure it's partly my responsability that i tel them what i want, but it's their responsability to make sure they understand what i'm saying (there's no way i could completely explain what i want done with my hair without seeming like an ass if they don't meet me part way with the explanation, plus something that i may use to describe hair may look different in my mind than in theirs)

4. THey have to have some sort of education in hairstyling. (simple enough)

Those are my rules, i will no longer every deviate from them, i'm sick of bad hair cuts and i don't like short hair. It's not even bloody even in the back!!!!!!
