Of things foretold
Again my judgement has come to a point where i have found out how i would act. saturday evening i went to my sister's liquor store for two reasons, to pick up a bottle of wine for my mom and to drop off a coffee for my sister. And of course i stayed a little while to talk with my sister just because we're rarely at home at the same time and i had nothing else to do anyways. While i was talking though we both looked outside and saw a man in his early twenties stumbling up to the door. Well obviously he was drunk and his friend had already driven off (after i found out that he had parked right beside the dumpster and turned off all his lights). he ambled to where the three of us were and started talking to us saying "i'm just gonna...." he gestured over to another part of the store and walked there without finishing the sentence. From where we were standing we could see what he was doing but could hear him moving bottles around, again he walked by us and egan talking to us saying "oh man! my friend is jerking me around and ditching me and stuff." then again he walked away and went out of sight again and again we hear him moving bottles around. As he walks up to the counter he grabbed a bottle of vodka that he wanted to buy (i'm assuming) and this is when i noticed that he had a bottle clearly hidden in his jacket pocket. I think he thought he was being sneaky or something but it was painfully obvious that it was in there. My sister walked up to him and took the bottle of vodka in his hand and told him that they couldn't serve him because he was drunk and also asked him to empty his pocket, again i think he thought he was trying to be sneaky by emptying the other pocket and then ignoring them when they continued to ask him to empty it. This is when he was trying to shove past my sister, and me...being more then slightly protective of her stepped in at this point (up until now i think he hadn't noticed me standing back in the corner) and loudly told him to empty his pockets. When he looked at me he had an obviously astonished look come across his face and it's about now that he ran for the door. Now i know that i wasn't supposed to do what i did next but i chased after him, it wasn't difficult because he was drunk and couldn't run fast but i didn't want to catch him anyways i just wanted the license plate number of the vehicle he got into. I chased him for some 300 m before his buddy again pulled up and he jumped in the back but not before losing his shoe. As they speeded off i yelled out the plate number and then went to [pick up the shoe (only due to the fact that i can't stand to let garbage sit around and i was pretty sure they weren't coming back) When i finally got back to the store with the number they were already onthe phone with the police. It hadn't been more than 2 minutes before they came back and the drunk's friend came in the store and asked if his friend had just stolen a bunch of alcohol from there. At this point i innocently asked "i don't know...is this his shoe?". He said he didn't know and then asked if they could just return it because he had no idea what was going on his friend just jumped in the back of his truck and told him to go. Of course once he left the store it was already too late. The police arrived shortly thereafter and arrested the shoplifter and questioned the friend. All in all it was quite an amusing time.
